Competencies
The following competencies represent the results from an extensive self-study conducted by the Cavendish Group, an independent management research and consulting firm. The group’s PeopleMatch Program focuses on the total person and examines several aspects of who the person is and the environment in which they work.
Knowledge & Abilities
I have worked hard to obtain the necessary knowledge and skills needed to execute my job responsibilities. In addition, I possess the ability to successfully accomplish the tasks demanded of me in my job. This skill is significant because it allows me to confidently meet the expectations of my environment and work group.
Problem-Solving
I have the ability to analyze a situation and make the appropriate recommendations for action. I am often called upon because of my accuracy in knowing what to do in handling difficult situations and have a natural ability to execute plans aimed at the swift resolution of problems and complicated issues.
Priority-Setting
The ability to prioritize my work and maximize my efforts to achieve goals is something that comes naturally to me. I value my time and the efficiency of work and thus am proficient at organizing, planning and prioritizing goals for the successful completion of projects and tasks.
Achieving Results
Achieving results is second nature to me. My organizational skills and ability to set priorities allows me to stay focused and meet my own, as well as the businesses’ objectives. Producing deliverables and meeting deadlines under minimal supervision is a particular strength of mine and demonstrates my mastery of this competency.
Client Skills
The ability to anticipate and respond to my (internal and external) clients’ needs is also second nature to me. I take full responsibility for my relationships and look for creative ways to handle client requests that cannot be met with the usual solutions. Staying in touch and gathering feedback from my clients is the cornerstone of my success.
Communication
I am proficient at expressing my ideas and thoughts. I am confident in my capacity to capture the attention of others and effectively impact my work environment.
Initiative
I am a motivated, directed person and it shows in my ability to take the initiative and drive for results. Prompting me to take on and own specific projects or responsibilities is not a problem – I thrive for the chance to be involved. I am skilled at anticipating potential problems or difficult situations and designing successful solutions.
Planning and Organization
Organizational skills and working in a uniform fashion is extremely important to me and I do it effectively. This is a competency that I exhibit mastery in and as a result am able to successfully manage expectations and my work environment.
Decision Making
Assessing the ‘big picture’ and knowing exactly what to do is something I can do with my eyes closed. I am exceptional at recognizing patterns and connecting information points from a multitude of sources and driving toward results. Making difficult choices and decisions in a timely manner is something that is natural for me and that I am particularly apt at doing with great skill. Part of my success in this area is my ability to draw on past experiences and my understanding of the cultural landscape.
Striving for Excellence
This is a competency in which I show great skill and determination. I relentlessly pursue goals and high standards that I set for myself and expect only the best in my own performance. I am particularly skilled at achieving short-term goals that contribute to long-term results for my business. Part of my success derives from my soliciting of feedback from both clients and colleagues so that I can continuously improve and refine my talents.
Managing Complexity
Managing a complex landscape is one of my key strengths. My ability to think analytically and act decisively helps me navigate this difficult terrain successfully. I thrive in uncertain circumstances and am expert at responding to these situations by building consensus, making the complex clear and compelling and knowing when to act and when to wait.
