Free Advice from Freelance Folder

Freelance Folder has seven pieces of timeless, zen-like business wisdom. Sadly, “wax-on, wax-off” didn’t make the cut… nor did “sweep the leg.” In any event, here’s the list: (with a little bit of commentary)
- Push through your limitations. “You’d be surprised what you can accomplish if you just put your mind to it.” Thanks, 80′s-after-school-special!
- Never stop improving. Continuous process improvement- this is an important one. There’s usually a way to make everything work better (or at least work better for you). The improvement may not happen overnight- these things usually take time to figure out and implement, but in the end, it’ll be worth your efforts.
- Action is more important than talk. Personally, I can’t stand people who instantly delegate tasks. I’m from the school of thought where you never ask anyone to do something that you can do yourself. In the long run, I’d really like to believe that pushing your personal limits to get the job done and not “pass the buck” will pay off, which brings us to…
- Success takes hard work. Everyone’s definition of success is different. For some people it may be having a wife and raising a family. Still for others, success may be defined by tangible items such as a nice car, or a big house. Whatever your definition of the word “success” is, it’s almost never going to just fall in your lap. Set goals and stick to them, because…
- Hard work brings happiness (and success)
- Don’t be afraid of failure. In the end, people aren’t going to remember your failures, anyway. This goes back to “never stop improving”.
- Strive to provide something great. In the business world, if you have a truly great product or service, people will notice, and it will sell itself.
